RIKEN Singapore Representative Office was officially opened on 24 April 2006 as RIKEN’s first overseas representative office. We are located at Biopolis, biomedical science research and development hub in Singapore.

In September 2005, RIKEN and Singapore’s A*STAR (the Agency for Science, Technology and Research) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding on General Collaboration (MOU). Under this MOU, RIKEN and A*STAR intend to collaborate on scientific research, through their various institutes, in science and engineering research as well as life sciences and biotechnology, with a view to making large contributions to these fields and to international society. In order to facilitate collaborative activities under this MOU, RIKEN has set up its first international liaison office in Singapore.
Since then, RIKEN also concluded MOU with NTU(Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) in September 2011, and with NUS(National University of Singapore) in January 2012 respectively.

Today, RIKEN Singapore Representative Office expands its activities to promote scientific research exchange and collaborations not only within Singapore but also with other institutes and universities in the Southeast Asian countries.
